F3G in the News
Petition for F3G
- July 2024
The California Fish and Game Department unanimously APPROVED Todd’s petition number 2023-10, which amends current verbiage within section 231(b) title 14 of the CCR. Even though sport fishermen have been legally donating fish to F3G since 2010, this new law specifically says California sport fishing anglers will now be allowed to donate fish to non-profits. Even though F3G already has partnerships in place between fish processors and
nonprofits, this new law will finally allow F3G to donate fish to San Diego Schools!

Having wanted to donate fish to San Diego schools for over six years, Todd learned after many, many meetings that the legal department required the California Fish and Game Department to approve what F3G had been doing for over a decade. A petition was filed by Todd.

2011 and 2012 NOAA Donation
- August 2012
The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) donated 800 pounds of Albacore in 2011 and again in 2012 to F3G because they only require the fish’s bones and guts to conduct their research. Meals-on-Wheels joyfully collected the fish fillets from this donation. NOAA is to be congratulated! This is the first time any government agency has ever done anything like this. F3G challenges other government agencies inspired by this story to contact F3G. Read the whole story in the San Diego Union Tribune:
